What is infrastructure and why is it important?

The ICT infrastructure is the physical foundation on which a network is built, hence its importance in the development of robust and reliable networks. Agile ICT can assist with any infrastructure development whether it be adding a single network port, upgrading to a Gigabit backbone or even putting in the physical infrastructure to allow you to move to a Whole School Network.

How can Agile ICT help?

As part of our 'ICT Health Check' we will evaluate the schools current infrastructure including checking the specification and performance of all your current switches/patch panels, ports and cables. We assess all components within the infrastructure to be able to advise on any upgrades that may be needed so that all 'bottlenecks' in the system are eliminated and then the school can achieve maximum throughput from source to end pc. We will offer all recommendations on how the infrastructure can be future-proofed and improved in terms of speed, agility and performance. We will design the optimum network topology solution that fulfils your schools' needs.

We thoroughly test all our products before deployment; this makes sure we are only recommending products that are proven to be reliable, robust and best for schools. We only recommend Full gigabit switches (1GB), as after research and testing we have found the HP Procurve range to be paramount in terms of performance, price and warranty – the HP switch is even used by NASA (see our Health Check for exact details on this Rosie). HP full gigabit switches are known to be vastly superior to other 10/100 units and will enable you to extract the maximum performance as they give full duplicity to give even more speed. We would always recommend using CAT5e cables (Category 5 cable) as CAT5E cabling is most commonly used for faster Ethernet networks allowing data to travel at a gigabit per second.
